Tim Nevius

Timothy M. Nevius

Tim Nevius has been at the forefront of college sports legal matters since shortly after his own college baseball career at the University of Dayton. After graduating first in his law school class, he joined the NCAA as an investigator where he helped lead high-profile enforcement cases against major college sports programs.

Thereafter, he earned an LLM with honors from Columbia Law School before forming a college sports practice at Winston & Strawn in New York. There, Tim helped initiate and lead landmark litigation against the NCAA to challenge athlete compensation restrictions. Since then, he formed a law practice dedicated to representing college athletes and founded the College Athlete Advocacy Initiative, a nonprofit devoted to athlete representation and college sports reform.

Called “The Change Agent” by The Athletic, Tim was involved in state and federal lobbying efforts to advance ground-breaking legislation for college athlete rights. He helped design Overtime Sports' industry-leading NIL program and serves as chief legal counsel to a prominent Heisman Trophy winner and top NFL draft pick. Tim has negotiated and executed endorsement and licensing deals worth tens of millions of dollars, and his firm works with top athletes, agents, brands, and others in the sports, media, and entertainment industries.
