Norm Wain
Norman Wain is a seasoned sports and entertainment executive, internationally recognized speaker, and founder of the Sports Business Consultants, a firm specializing in guiding businesses through transformational growth.
Previously, Wain served as Chief of Business & Legal Affairs, General Counsel for USA Track & Field, the national governing body for track & field, long-distance running, and race-walking in the United States. In this role, he managed all business and legal aspects of the organization, including contract negotiations, corporate governance, intellectual property, litigation, insurance and risk management.
Before joining USA Track & Field, Wain was Vice President of Corporate Legal Affairs at The Finish Line, Inc., a billion-dollar publicly traded athletic specialty retailer in the U.S., later acquired by JD Sports. There, he was responsible for the management and administration of the legal department, and its integration within the various business verticals and affiliated entities. His career also includes roles in Business & Legal Affairs at Writers & Artists Agency (a prestigious Beverly Hills talent agency later acquired by Paradigm), as well as positions at Fox Sports and in private legal practice specializing in litigation.
Beyond his executive roles, Wain is an adjunct professor at Indiana University, where he teaches sports law. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Sports Lawyers Association (SLA) and the governance commission for World Athletics. Additionally, he chairs the Advisory Board for Law In Sport, the largest international sports law publication, and is a Trustee for Safe Sport International, a leading nonprofit dedicated to eliminating abuse and harassment in sports worldwide. Wain was also the founding chair of the Sports & Entertainment Committee for the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), serving on its national board of directors, and he was an observer on the Uniform Law Commission’s Name, Image, and Likeness Act Committee.
Wain also serves as a mediator for New Era ADR and the Sports Conflict Institute, specializing in complex disputes.
Wain received his B.A. Degree with Phi Beta Kappa Honors from the University of California at Berkeley and his J.D. Degree from the Pepperdine University School of Law.
